Vegan Tzatziki Deli Wrap

Jump to Recipe

Greek food was a staple in our house growing up, and I loved a gyro with extra tzatziki sauce. Since becoming vegan, I have only gotten plant based gyro once and it was amazing. I’ve made falafel wraps with the same fixings, but there is something about gyro meat with the veggies and sauce that makes it the perfect match. Making tzatziki sauce is fairly easy, and I’ve made it before which I’ll share with you at some point. Real talk though, Trader Joe’s just came out with a vegan tzatziki dip and IT IS AMAZING! I could legit eat it with a spoon, it is that good. I don’t have vegan gyro meat on met me, but I do have Tofurky peppered deli slices, so I used those for these. Feel free to swap out the protein here with what you have on hand if you can’t find the peppered deli slices. They are the best grocery store vegan deli slices in my opinion.

The standard gyro in my opinion is tzatziki dip, gyro meat, cucumbers, red onions, and tomatoes. Depending on where you go, they might add lettuce or olives too. I deciding to go all in with this recipe minus the olives because I had everything on hand, but feel free to modify as needed. The dip really holds this all together and makes it delish no matter what.

I was torn on what vessel I should use to hold these goodies in before it made it into my mouth. Ended up going with Trader Joe’s Lavash bread. Pita bread obviously would be a perfect replacement for this, but I prefer lavash bread between the two.

This is a healthy, filling, quick, and easy meal that everyone will love. Great for on the go, kid’s lunches, picnics, and lazy dinners. Let me know if you have tried the new vegan tzatziki dip or TJ’s caramelized onion dip in the comments below. I prefer the tzatziki dip to the onion dip because the onion dip is oddly sweet. Either they overcooked the onions, or it’s the agave syrup in the dip. It says no added sugar, but it is too sweet for me. The tzatziki dip on the other hand, I could buy by the case.

Do you prefer a traditional gyro or a falafel wrap? What is your favorite Greek meal? Let me know in the comments below.

Vegan Tzatziki Deli Wrap

Vegan Tzatziki Deli Wrap
Yield: 4

Prep time: 15 MinTotal time: 15 Min

Ingredients

  • 4 Trader Joe’s Lavash bread slices (you can sub out pita bread if you want)
  • 1 8 ounce Trader Joe’s vegan tzatziki dip
  • ½ package Tofurky peppered deli slices
  • 1 Medium-large cucumber, diced
  • Roma/1 beefsteak tomato, diced
  • ½ cup red onion, diced
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • ½ cup sliced black olive (optional)

Instructions

  1. Lay out the lavash bread and spread 4-5 deli slices across the center of the wrap. Top with tzatziki dip, and remaining ingredients and roll up wrap. Cut in half and enjoy.

Notes:

I like to prep the wrap and keep the ingredients separate when bringing this for lunch. I will assemble the wrap when it is time to eat it, so the items don’t get soggy from the dip.
